In the realm of ultra-fast science, there’s a region where photons of light can be made to dance only half steps. Here, advances in laser science are letting researchers tinker with the behavior light in an entirely new way.
Qualified candidates will be responsible for the design, fabrication and implementation of production/manufacturing tests for leading edge, high speed optoelectronic products and systems.
Demonstrated track record driving hardware development, ideally across multiple imaging modalities (hyperspectral, FLIR, LIDAR, terahertz, LIDAR, remote sensing, star trackers, adaptive optics, sonar, ..), is essential.
Graphene can work as an intrinsically strong non-linear device or “frequency multiplier”, according to new calculations by a physicist in Germany. This means that the material, which was only discovered in 2004, might be used to produce radiation in the technologically important terahertz frequency range by irradiating it with more easily accessible frequencies, such as microwaves.
