We use these materials to improve the design, performance and functionality of devices used primarily in bioscience and in communications and computing.</p>
<p>Lumera has developed a strong proprietary position based on a combination of our patents, trade secrets and proprietary methods relating to the design and characterization of polymer materials, methods of polymer synthesis, production of polymers in commercial quantities, as well as device design, characterization, fabrication, testing and packaging technology for polymer products. Future potentials include customized testing surfaces and low cost diagnostics. Applications are anticipated in bioassay, pharmaceuticals, and diagnostics.</p>
<p>    * <strong>Electro-optic Devices</strong>: Lumera is designing and building devices that translate and encode data from electronic signals into optical signals that can be used in communications systems and in optical interconnects for high-speed data communication. Our first product in this area is a polymer-based modulator for use in defense communications systems.</p>

<p><strong>Description</strong><br />
Thomas Keating started - so we believe - in the 1780&#8217;s off St Paul&#8217;s Churchyard in the City of London. It was a chemists shop and through the 19 Century developed two products: A cough lozenge sold during the winter and an Insecticide sold during the summer. The latter, which became a household name, was based upon pyrethrum, although there was a rumour that the same ingredients were used in both.</p>
<p>Since the 1950&#8217;s a high precision toolroom making presstools and injection moulds for the watch, telephone and aerosol industries, was built up - all requiring very high precision machining.</p>
<p>Starting in the 1980&#8217;s these toolmaking skills and technologies have been applied to servicing the scientific community, in particular to the design and manufacture of THz instruments for cosmology, astronomy, atmospheric remote sensing, plasma fusion diagnostics and material measurements.</p>

The established in year 1990 company Molecular Technology (MolTech) GmbH was initially oriented towards the development of new materials, components, as well as technologies, especially in the fields &#8220;lasers, optics, electronics&#8221;. AMO GmbH (Gesellschaft fÃ¼r Angewandte Mikro- und Optoelektronik mbH) is a innovative test and measurement supplier for THz metrology. We offer reconfigurable high speed data acquisition and transient recording. Our FASTSCAN technology is used in acquisition for ultra high noise reduction in weak signals. We have a complete solution (AIXSCAN) for pump-probe measurements of ultra fast phenomena using acquisition synchronized with fast time delay stages. We fabricate THZ antenna and emitters by mirco- and nanofabrication in our own clean room. </p>
<p>AMO was founded by Prof. Heinrich Kurz in 1993 in Aachen, Germany, as RWTH Aachen spin-of, from the Institute for Semiconductor Electronics.  Test &#038; Measurement, Transient Recorder and R&#038;D in Nanofabrication, Nanoelectronics and Silicon Photonics are our business.</p>
