Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Professorship in Terahertz Devices and Systems
(joint appointment Department of Microelectronic Engineering and Tyndall National Institute)
Science Foundation Ireland has made awards to University College Cork (UCC) and Tyndall National Institute of SFI Professorships in the above field under the SFI Engineering Professorships and Lectureships Programme. Applicants are now invited for this position.
The postholder will be expected to bring together research teams to undertake research of the highest international standard. The joint appointment is intended to foster the interaction between the sponsoring department in UCC and Tyndall National Institute.
The successful candidate will have significant experience of working at a senior level within an internationally leading research institute and/or an academic or industrial environment. They will have a proven record of internationally recognised independent research accomplishments in the above fields and evidence of successfully attracting substantial research funding. The appointee will also have the ability to provide strategic vision and leadership in the development of their specialist fields.
The Professorship is a 5-year SFI-funded joint appointment at Tyndall National Institute and University College Cork, carrying a proleptic permanent post in the sponsoring department within the College of Science, Engineering and Food Science at UCC. The successful candidate will be expected eventually to play a leading role in teaching, research and administration within the sponsoring departments.

Salary Scale: [new entrants]: €111,286 - €143,193.
Appointment will be made at a salary level appropriate to the experience of the candidate.
