Summary: The High Explosives and Organic Materials Group in the Theoretical Division has immediate openings for Postdoctoral Research Associates in the areas of (1) Electronic Structure and Spectroscopy of Organic Molecular Crystals and (2) Semiclassical Dynamics of Coupling Between Molecular Crystals and THz Radiation Fields. The research forms an integral part of a concentrated effort focused on the development of methods for accurate predictions of THz spectra in pure and defective CHNO-based energetic crystals and the development of methods for simulating the dynamic thermo-chemical response of molecular energetic crystals subjected to THz radiation. Demonstrated experience in one or both of the emphasis areas is required. The ability to obtain a DOE “Q” security clearance, which generally requires U.S. citizenship, is desirable but is not a prerequisite for consideration for these positions.
Notes: Serious technical inquiries should be sent to Tommy Sewell at sewell@lanl.gov.
Pre-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a pre-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Candidates may be considered for a Director’s Fellowship and outstanding candidates may be considered for the prestigious J. Robert Oppenheimer, Richard P. Feynman or Frederick Reines Fellowships. Please see Special Postdoctoral Fellowships for further details.
