MAJOR DUTIES:
Work involves fundamental research in nanoscale electronic devices for future lightweight, low-power Army systems including electronic textiles and networked autonomous microsystems, with specific focus in the areas of amperometric sensing and extremely high frequency (GHz-THz) communications. Applicants must have demonstrated background in the design, modeling, fabrication and analysis of nanoscale electromagnetic devices, and thorough knowledge of the physics of nanometer-scale phenomena. The candidate is expected to independently design and perform experiments investigating the fundamental physical properties of nanoscale and atomic scale systems for sensor and electronic devices, and provide insight into concept development of DoD-relevant devices and circuit and sub-system architectures at the nano- to microscale.
About the Position: The U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) is participating in an alternative personnel system known as the Laboratory Personnel Demonstration Project. Among other features, the Demonstration Project replaced GS grade levels with occupational families and pay bands. This position incorporates the former GS-12 thru GS-13 grade levels.
The ARL Adelphi site is located in Prince Georges County. A metropolitan area, bordered to the south by Washington DC and to the north by Baltimore. It is approximately 30 miles south of Baltimore and the White Marsh area, and 10 miles north of Washington DC.
