POSITION SUMMARY
Staff Engineer to support system integration and product development programs within the Spectrum Solutions Team. This hands-on position supports the design, fabrication, test, and installation of electro-optic sensors for chemical/biological sensing as well as process monitoring applications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Successful candidate will have primary responsibility for sensor electronics configuration management, verification of design modifications, assembly and testing of pre-production prototypes, primarily focused on mid- to far-infrared (terahertz) devices.
The candidate will be responsible for fabrication, test, and evaluation of prototype units and work as part of the R&D team to implement technical ideas into new or existing prototypes. The candidate will have primary responsibility for and focus on the electronics aspects of the devices, including boards and related software. He/she will provide support to business development activities including demonstrations and installation at customer sites, training, implementation of communication software and control systems, developing test plans, and verification of unit operation. In addition, he/she will coordinate electronic inventory, vendor communications, component and system quality assurance, and quality control functions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering field, with at least 2 years experience. Previous experience in an electro-optic product development environment, familiarity with optical sensors, infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), CAD (Pro/E), LabView, Matlab, and/or electronics layout and design is a plus. Must be capable of performing electronic systems diagnostics, with good laboratory skills and knowledge of safe laboratory practices. Superior communication skills, both verbal and written are required.
