Optoelectronic Terahertz Camera: Post-doc or PhD Position, Universität Frankfurt
Within the group of Prof. Roskos, Physikalisches Institut, Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt (Main), the following position:
Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter / Mitarbeiterin
(Post-doc- or PhD Position)
will be available starting from the April 1 2006, initially limited to a 2-year duration, as part of a German Science Foundation (DFG) project.
Assignment: The scope of the project is the development of an active camera system for terahertz radiation (i.e. for mm- and sub-mm waves). The approach is to be based on a hybrid technology consisting of an electronic source (multiplier chain) and an opto-electronic detector array (consisting of a two- color laser; non-linear crystal and CMOS-camera). This will require the synchronization of the source and two-color laser. Additionally, the possibilities for depth-resolved measurements based on the measured phase information shall be explored.
Prerequisites: Desired candidates will possess a diploma, masters or PhD degree in physics or electrical engineering and preferably working knowledge within one or more of the following topics: Terahertz technology und applications; laser optics; high-frequency technology; non-linear optics; imaging systems; data acquisition; feedback loops (PLLs).
Additional details: This position will involve a large element of independent research, with the scope to work on a dissertation or habilitation. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications, the position will be paid up to a full BAT IIa. J.W. Goethe-Universität strongly supports equal opportunities, and we encourage female applicants to apply. Applications should be received by 15.02.2006 and should be addressed to: Prof. Dr. H. Roskos, Physikalisches Institut, J. W. Goethe-Universität, Max-von-Laue-Str. 1, D-60054 Frankfurt (E- Mail: roskos@physik.uni-frankfurt.de).
